Jinling Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Guanshan, east of Longtan Town in the east suburb of Nanjing. It was named by Li Siguang (J.S. Lee) and Zhu Sen in 1930.
Lithology and Thickness
Limestone. Dominated by gray and gray-black medium- to thick-bedded micritic and finely-crystalline limestones, and dolomitic and clayey limestones. The bottom is formed by yellow-brown Fe- and Ca-bearing quartzose sandstones, ferruginous siltstone and shale.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformable contact with the underlying Leigutai Member of the Wutong Fm
Upper contact
Conformable contact with the overlying Gaolishan Fm
Regional extent
It is widely distributed in the east segment of the Ning-Zhen Mts., 1.5−6 m thick, reaching 25 m at Binhai and Hongze of northern Jiangsu, and less than 10 m at Hexian, Chaoxian, Huaining and Susong of Anhui.

Fossils
In the Ning-Zhen Mts., it contains the coral Pseudouralinia zone, the brachiopods Eochoristites neipentaiensis-Ptychomaletoechia kinlingensis or Eochoristites-Martiniella assemblage, and conodonts Polygnathus inornatus, Neoprioniodus baratus, Siphonodella coopei, Qzarkodina sp., Ligonodina sp., etc.

It is interpreted as littoral-neritic deposits of the initial transgression stage
